Dr. Timothy Schaub is a plastic and hand surgeon and serves as chief of the Section of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Nicklaus Children’s. He earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine. Dr. Schaub completed general surgery training and served as chief resident at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, followed by a plastic surgery residency and a dedicated hand and microsurgery fellowship at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas. To complement his clinical leadership, he obtained an MBA with a focus on healthcare from Arizona State University’s W. P. Carey School of Business in Tempe.
 
Dr. Schaub brings to Nicklaus Children’s advanced expertise in pediatric reconstructive microsurgery. His clinical interests include congenital hand differences, upper-extremity trauma, nerve and tendon reconstruction, limb salvage, and complex wound management.
 
Before joining Nicklaus Children’s, Dr. Schaub most recently served as chief of pediatric hand and microsurgery and associate professor at UCLA and the Luskin Orthopaedic Institute for Children in California. Previously, he was section chief of hand, microsurgery, and complex wound programs at Phoenix Children’s Hospital in Arizona, where he helped build multidisciplinary programs for complex congenital and traumatic conditions. He has authored peer-reviewed publications and book chapters and is a frequent invited lecturer nationally and internationally.
 
Dr. Schaub is board-certified in plastic surgery with a certificate of added qualification in hand surgery. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons and an active member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, American Association of Hand Surgery, Mountain West Society of Plastic Surgery and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery.
 
He is employed by Nicklaus Children’s Pediatric Specialists (NCPS), the multispecialty medical group practice of Nicklaus Children’s Health System.
